MISSION STATEMENT

The Mission of the Guyana women’s Leadership Institute is to develop, promote and support women and girls as leaders and decision makers through Education and training in order to facilitate equal accession and full participation in leadership and decision-making processes throughout the Guyanese Society. The Mission Statement is founded on the understanding that gender equity is fundamental to human centred and sustainable national development.


 
 

OBJECTIVES:

To provide education and training for women and girls to facilitate their participation in the decision-making process through empowerment, career advancement and personal development.
 
 

TRAINING PROGRAMMES

The Guyana Women’s Leadership Institute offers a one-year course which is conducted in three modular programmes– Elementary, Intermediate and Advance.  Classes are held from October – December; January – March; April – June.

The Guyana Women’s Leadership Institute also provides gender sensitization training for decision-makers, Public Servants and other groups.

Special weekend workshops and seminars are organised at the request of Organisations, Community Groups, Youths (high school children) and special interest groups.

As part of its Outreach Programme, the Guyana Women’s Leadership Institute provides training for rural communities in the following areas:

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Women, sixteen years and older are eligible to pursue programmes of their choice. They are required to complete the registration/application forms which are available at the Institute.
