Our Mission
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the discharge of its mandate to promote the interests of Guyana within the international community, is committed to preserving the country's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and to contributing to the economic and social development of the Guyanese people.

Guyana and the Philippines established diplomatic relations on Thursday, September 25, 2008 through a Joint Communique which was signed by H.E. Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, Minister of Foreign Affairs and H.E. Alberto G. Romulo, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines. In picture, Minister Rodrigues and Mr.Romulo sign the Instrument in New York on behalf of their respective countries.

Press Release (October 14, 2008) - The Government of Guyana has today confirmed that the Guyanese registered MV Lady Chandra 1 was seized by the Surinamese military at 13.30 hrs while travelling in the Corentyne River, which enjoys the status of a border river separating Guyana and Suriname.  Read More
