What is SSEE?
The Secondary School Entrance Examinations (SSEE) is done by all students of Primary Four to determine their placement into Secondary schools. The reason for this is the lack of sufficient places in General Secondary schools to accomodate children leaving primary school.
Based on performance at SSEE and parental preferance children can be offered places at a General Secondary, Community High, or Secondary Department of Primary schools.
As Guyana moves to a position of Universal Secondary Education (USE), SSEE will be phased out as purely a placement tool.
