Animal Disease Act. Cap.
71:02 Section 12 & 13
The cat must be accompanied by a Health
Certificate signed by the Veterinary Authority of the country of origin
which shall state that :
-
The cat has been fully vaccinated
against Calicivirus, Feline Panleukopenia and Rhinotrachetits.
-
The cat is in good health and free
from signs of infections and contagious disease.
-
The cat, to the best of the belief of
the Veterinary Authority of the country from which the animal is
being exported, was born in and has never left that country or where
not born in or has left and returned to that country, has been in
the country for the previous six (6) months.
-
(i) There has been no rabies among
unquarantined cats, or other animals in the country from which such
cat was exported during the six (6) months immediately proceeding
the exportation of such cat, or
(ii) If rabies has occurred among
such animals, the cat to be exported has been vaccinated against
rabies at least one(1) month prior to the date of exportation
All cats imported into Guyana in
accordance with Paragraph (d) (ii) shall be placed into quarantine for
not less than three (3) months the fee chargeable being US $6.00 per
day. Additional charges shall be made for any medication that may be
administered.
Veterinary examination shall be carried
out on arrival at the port of entry.
Notice of arrival must be given at least
twenty-four (24) hours prior to the cat being landed.
This permit is valid for two (2) months.

The dog must be accompanied by a Health
Certificate signed by the Veterinary Authority of the country of origin
which shall state that:
-
The dog has been fully vaccinated
against canine distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza and
parvovirus.
-
The dog is in good health and free
from signs of infectious and contagious disease.
-
The dog to the best of the belief
of the Veterinary Authority of the country from which the animals
are being exported, were born in and have never left that country,
or were not born in or have left and returned to that country, have
been in the country for the previous six (6) months.
-
(i) There has been no rabies among
unquarantined dogs, or other animals in the country from which such dog
was exported during the six (6) months immediately proceeding the
exportation of such dog, or
(ii) If rabies has occurred among
such animals, the dog to be exported has been vaccinated against
rabies at least one(1) month prior to the date of exportation
All dogs imported into Guyana in
accordance with Paragraph (d) (ii) shall be placed into quarantine for

The goats must be accompanied by the
necessary veterinary health certificate issued by the Veterinary
Authority which should state that:
-
The country from which the goats
are exported has been free from Foot and Mouth Disease for a period
of at least twenty-four (24) months immediately prior to the date of
the exportation of the animals; and
-
The goats are physically sound
and in good health and free from symptoms of Scrapie and other
prescribed or infectious or contagious disease; and
-
So far as it has been possible to
ascertain Scrapie has not existed on the premises from which the
goats originated during the three (3) years immediately prior to the
date of the exportation of the goats and the goats are not the
progeny of a sire or dam which has been affected by Scrapie; and
-
The goats have been subjected, with
negative reactions, to a serum agglutination test with internationally
approved antigens, for Brucellosis, during the twenty (20) days
immediately prior to the exportation of the animals;
The certificate must also state that:
- On each of the two (2) days preceding export of the sheep they should be given intramuscular
injections of a recommend dose of penicillin/streptomycin
combination or other broad spectrum antibiotic.
- They were treated for endo-and ecto-parasites
during the seventy-two (72) hours preceding export.
At least seventy-two (72) hours notice of
arrival must be given to the Veterinary Officer, Georgetown so that the
animals can be met on arrival and examined. The animals will then be
placed under farm quarantine for six (6) months and tested for
tuberculosis, brucellosis and any other diseases that may be deemed fit.

The animals must be accompanied by the

which should state:
-
The country from which the horses are
exported has been free from Foot and Mouth Disease for a period of at
least twelve months immediately prior to the date of exportation.
-
The country is not free from Foot and
Mouth Disease, but that the premises from which the horses originated
and all places on the route and all places within fifteen miles on the
route, by which the horses were transported to the port of exportation
have been free of Foot and Mouth Disease for a period of at least twelve
months immediately prior to the date of the exportation of the horses;
and
-
The horses are in good health and
free from any symptoms of and prescribed or any other infection or
contagious disease.
-
In so far as it has been possible to
ascertain no case of Dourine Mal de Coit Mal de Caderas, Glanders
(Farcy), Epizootic Equine Infections Anemia, African Horse sickness,
Vesicular Stomatitis, Equine Encephalomyelitis, Mange or Contagious
Equine Meritis has occured on the premises from which the horses
originated, or at any place within fifteen miles therefrom, during the
period of sixty days immediately prior to the period of its exportation.
-
The horses have been treated for
external and internal parasites during the 38 hours proceeding
exportation.
Notice of arrival must be given at least
twenty-four(24) hours prior to the horses being landed.
Veterinary examination shall be carried
out at the port of entry.
This permit is valid for two (2) months.

Carcasses of Poultry shall not be
imported into Guyana from the USA unless:
- Imported directly from the USA.
- So eviscerated that the carcasses
are:-
- free of all blood and feathers.
- without the head and the legs
from the hockjoint downwards
- without entrails and internal organs
other than the giblets

- Accompanied by a meat inspection
certificate issued by or on behalf of the veterinary authority of the
country of origin stating that :
- the birds were subjected to
ante-mortem examination and were found to be free from symptoms of
infections and contagious disease.
- the carcasses were inspected as soon
as practicable after slaughter and were found fit for human consumption

Inspection of meat will be carried out at
the port of entry.
This permit
is valid for one (1) month.
Veterinary Officer must be notified at
least twenty-four (24) hours prior to their entry into Guyana.

This permit is intended
for countries which are free from Foot and Mouth Disease, Rinderpest and
Contagious Bovine Pleuroneumnia.
The semen should be
accompanied by a Veterinary Health Certificate signed by the Veterinary
Authority which shall state:
that the bull(s)
have passed a negative test for Brucellosis within the previous
twelve ( 12 ) months.
that the bull(s)
are free from Tuberculosis, Infectious Rhinotracheitis/Bovine
Viral Diarrhoea, Campylobacterosis and Trichomoniasis.
Notice of arrival of at
least twenty - four( 24 ) hours must be given.
This permit
is valid for three (3) months.

The pigs must be accompanied by a Health
certificate signed by the Veterinary Authority of the country of origin
which shall state that:
-
The country from which the pigs are
exported has been free from Foot and Mouth Disease, Vesicular
Stomatitis, African Swine Fever and Swine Vesicular Disease for a
period of at least twenty - four months immediately prior to the date
of the exportation of the pigs; and
-
The pigs are physically sound and in
good health and free from symptoms of Virus Pneumonia, Vesicular
Exanthema, Atrophic Rhinitis, Pseudo-rabies and all other prescribed
of infectious or contagious diseases; and
-
Where the pigs are exported from a
country which is enzootically infected with Erysipelas or Brucellosis
or Pseudo-rabies, the pigs during the three months immediately prior
to exportation, have been subjected with negative reactions, to the
serological test, with internationally approved antigens, for
Brucellosis and Pseudo-rabies, and have been vaccinated against
erysipelas.
-
The pigs have been treated for external
and internal parasites during the 48 hours preceding exportation.
Notice of arrival must be given at least
24 hours prior to the pigs being landed.
Veterinary examination shall be carried
out on arrival at the Port of Entry.
This permit is valid for two (2) months.
