Troopers of Charity has been establish almost 36 years after former United States President Lyndon B. Johnson declared war on poverty and about 7 years after Guyana’s late President Cheddi B. Jagan called on the international arena for the creation of new human global order from which a formula will evolve for lasting peace, equity, security and sustainable development for all humanity.  It is established to provide for the special need of an increasing number of homeless children found on the streets, school dropouts, teenage mothers, unemployed youths, juvenile delinquents, illiterate persons, drug addicts the poor and the less fortunate.

In so doing Troopers of Charity will pay particular attention to the personal problems members of the various groups may face and making them independent and respected members of society.

Troopers of Charity has been established members of various vulnerable groups who has the vision to reduce the level of the poor and poverty in Guyana and the world at large.

Although Troopers of Charity is a non-governmental organization it will cooperate fully with the state social services on all matters of statistics and registration of members.

Execution
Troopers of Charity plans to embark on a number of activities step by step.  These will include stockpiling in all forms, to be able to respond to the event of disaster and emergency e.g. funds, building material, medical supplies, tents, folding cots, blankets, lamps, jerry can, foodstuff, cooking utensils, compasses, maps, binoculars, spades, pick axe, spikes, rope, gloves, life jackets, lighting devices, communication devices, sea and land transport, ponchos, gas masks, long boots, buckets, fuel and computers.

Acquiring money, material, medical supplies for members in need and assisting the dependant of members particularly in the area of education.

Training in skills suited for their development, independence and making respectable members of society.

Organizing educational, cultural, social, sporting and other activities for the leisure and physical development of members and their dependants.

Cooperating with donor organizations and state social services on matters of accountability and sustainability.

In order to fulfill some of its objectives, Troopers of Charity has conducted various analysis of the average household as it relates to their basic needs on a day-to-day basis.

The analysis also covered basic utilities on a month-to-month basis and the level of income especially the single parent household.  It is hard to believe but it is true the double parent cannot afford to provide their children with the basic needs on a day-to-day basis.  Hence, children are forced to be absent from school resulting in school dropouts, juvenile delinquents, early teenage pregnancy, illiteracy, single parent, drug addicts, criminals and poverty stricken citizens.

The basic utilities bills is enormous and parents are forced to deprive themselves and kids of basic comforts such as electricity, running water, proper home, transportation, health communication, education and leisure.

Society at large must not be allowed to embrace, accept and be mere spectators of the destruction of the present and future generation through poverty.
