Guyana Zoo Holiday Camp
The Guyana Zoological Park will once again be captivating the minds of our eager to learn,
younger generation through its interactive outreach programme; the annual holiday camp (Zoo Camp)
at the Nature School. This holiday camp is designed for children between the ages of 6-9 years and 10-12 years
of age and consists of four, one week sessions from Monday to Friday at 8:30am to 3:00pm each day.
Cost for each one week programme is GYD $3,500 (per child).
This intellectually stimulating and fun filled camp is conducted by the Nature School Educator and the
dedicated Guyana Zoo Education Volunteers, whose duties will entail fulltime supervision of campers and
ensuring that all their needs are met. There will also be a trainee medical nurse onsite.
Members of the Media are invited to cover this annual event on Friday, 20th July,
2007 at 2:00pm and on Friday, 27th July, 2007 at 2:00pm.
The Zoo Camp has proudly celebrated six successful years of educational opportunities and fun
activities that embrace wildlife and environmental issues. A few of the activities offered in
this programme include, educational tours in the Zoo, guest speakers on wildlife topics, field
trips, nature related stories and videos, arts and crafts, fishing, bird watching and lots more!!!
The Guyana Zoo has for many years nurtured the precocious minds of children through fascinating
facts about nature and its unique creatures; in the hope of developing, an understanding and
appreciation for their magnificence.
The closing date for registration is on the 6th July, 2007. Registration can be done and parent
information forms can be uplifted at the Guyana Zoological Park, Regent & Vlissengen Roads, Georgetown.
