Description
Rockview is located at Annai, a small Amerindian village on the main road to Lethem. It comprises of an old ranch-house (now the family home), and a small guest-house. Run by Colin Edwards, an ex-pat who stayed on after doing VSO in the 1960’s in the North-West, the resort is under-going continual expansion and improvement.

Things To Do
There is a small, but lovely, swimming pool, well kept gardens, bar and shop, and various animals. Annai is a short walk away, although you may need permission from the Captain to wander around – check with Colin first. A great short walk is to the top of a nearby hill to view the beautiful savannah and rainforest beyond…well worth the scramble (wear long trousers and good trainers / boots – the path is rocky and the razor grass vicious!). A future project for Colin is to have bikes and horses available for hire.

Route
By air:
approx. 1 hour flight from Ogle, Georgetown, or 15 minutes from Lethem. Current prices are GUY $18,500 single or GUY $34,000 return with Trans-Guyana Airways.

By road:
time depends on the state of the road! From Georgetown 12 hours upwards;
from Lethem 1 hour upwards. 4x4 Jeep currently costs approx. GUY $7000 single; trucks usually charge less. There are many truck companies that make the return journey to Lethem weekly; it is advisable to book in advance but keep hold of your cash until you actually travel!

Accommodation and Food
The guesthouse has rooms with all facilities, nets and towels provided. You can also stay in the ranch-house with the family, which is less luxurious, but cheaper. An alternative arrangement may be to sling hammocks in one of the benabs.

VSO rates are: GUY $3000 per person per night in the guesthouse; GUY $1800 per person per night in the ranch-house and GUY $1000 to sling a hammock under a benab. Meals are taken with the family at a large table under a mango tree, and cost extra. Breakfast GUY $600, lunch GUY $1400 and dinner GUY $1400. Snacks and drinks can be purchased at the bar run by Colins’ wife.

Arrangements can be made to stay at Rockview in Georgetown through Abdool,
