Description
Run by Garry Serrao and Shymoon Hussein, Toucan Lodge is a quiet guest house in Met-en-Meerzorg, halfway between Parika and Georgetown. The guest house is in the same building as the museum which displays Gary Serrao’s personal collection of books, pictures, maps, stamps, magazines, etc. which refer to Guyana and its history. He is happy to show visitors around and to discuss the exhibits.

Accommodation and Food
We stayed in a double room containing a four poster bed with a box mosquito net. There was a fan and en-suite bathroom with good water pressure in the shower.

This cost GUY$3,000 for one night. (A single room is $2,500: air conditioning is available in one room).

Food and drinks are available, but cost extra. The menu is limited to what the family is having, but requests may be entertained. There is self-catering space.

Dinner = GUY $900 each
Breakfast = GUY $600 each - orange juice, omelette, toast, jam and coffee

Additional Information
Entrance to the museum costs GUY $100 per person

The price to swim and / or see the museum / have a meal depends on your itinerary.

GUY $1500 is charged for a day with admission to the museum, access to the pool and lunch provided.

*VSOs may get discounts on accommodation*

Garry also has property at Bartica and will arrange boat tours for the day (eg to Marshall Falls) or camping overnight. Arrangements will depend on your requirements.
