Essequibo Coast - Lakes
Description
There are 3 large lakes on the Essequibo
Coast: Capoey, Mainstay and Hot and Cold.
Route
Georgetown to Parika by # 32 minibus = GUY $160.
Parika to Supernaam by speedboat =
GUY $400.
From Supernaam you can either take a car or minibus
straight to one of the lakes, or to
Suddie or Anna Regina from where transport to the lakes can be arranged.
Capoey
Lake
Description
Capoey lake is located near to Anna Regina.
It is very scenic and quiet and not set up
for visitors.

Walking
There is a mission to which boats can be
arranged (although this can be expensive and is not very straightforward).
Route
The lake can be reached by hiring a bus or a taxi from Anna Regina
= approx. GUY $2000. Alternatively
you can walk to the lake from the main road.
Ask the bus driver to drop you off at Capoey and walk along the
track. This takes about 30 minutes.
