Description

Located on the Essequibo coast near Suddie, Hot and Cold Lake has good swimming in black water with very peaceful surroundings. The lake is very quiet during the week; a little busier at weekends.

Things To Do
Swim in the lake.
You can sling a hammock in one of the benabs and can stay overnight if you wish - although the benabs are old and may leak in the rain.
There is a snackette which has variable opening times and may not be available on Sundays.
There are some swings.

Route
Georgetown to Parika by # 32 minibus from Stabroek Market = GUY $160
Parika to Supenaam by speed boat from the stelling = GUY $400
Supenaam to the lake by taxi = GUY $2,000 for the car. Arrange for the taxi to collect you later / the next day as the lake is not serviced by regular mini-bus or taxi.

*Taxi drivers at Supenaam usually assume you want to go to Lake Mainstay - so be careful, especially if the price quoted is more than GUY $2,000*

Allow three hours for the journey. The visit could be done as a day-trip from Georgetown if you leave early in the morning.

Accommodation and Food
There are benabs where you can sling hammocks - but be warned....they are rickety and leak in the rain!!

There is a snackette which sells a few items, but it is not open all the time.

Additional Information
You are supposed to pay an entrance fee of about GUY $100 each - if you can find anyone to collect it! In the evening we had the place to ourselves, and a fantastic sunset!
