and Food | Additional Information Description This is an Amerindian village in the Pomeroon. The journey to Akawini is really the trip, as it involves a boat journey and a walk to the village.
Things To Do
Route The boat journey takes you some of the way, and then it is about 2 ˝ - 3 ˝ hours walk along a track. The boat will pick up a guide on the way, who will take you about half way and then point you in the direction along the established track. When you reach the village at the end of the track you will need to take a boat across to the school. They will be expecting you. Bargain the price - once we explained that we were working for a local salary the Captain of the boat dropped the price considerably. Total number of persons that can go is 10 due to the
capacity of the boat
Costs Tip for the guide c.$1,000
