Attendance
All students
are to attend regularly and punctually at all College
activities:
- lectures,
- school practice,
- any other
activity which may form part of the course of Training
Inclement weather
and long distance are no excuse.
The College
hours are 09:00 hours to 15:50 hours Monday to Friday.
Registers will be marked for each subject and kept by
the lecturer.
Students who
are late for class must first obtain a late slip from
the Student Affairs desk in order to be allowed into the
classroom. A student who arrives more than ten minutes
after the class has started is considered to be late.
A student who arrives more than thirty minutes late for
a lecture will be considered absent for that lecture,
even though he/she may sit in the class. He/she must obtain
a late slip.
Attendance
at all classes is important. The criteria for certification
clearly states that a student who does not make an 85%
attendance in any particular subject will not be allowed
to write the end of year examination in that subject.
Such a student will be permitted to write the subject
at a re-sit at a later date, if he/she is a graduating
student and December of the same year if he/she is a continuing
student. The continuing student will thus have only one
other for a re-sit.
Attendance at Games and Physical Education is compulsory
and students are expected to play an active role in all
related extra-curricular activities. Excuses for absence
from these exercises are accepted only on medical or other
serious grounds.
Non-Resident
pre-service students may not remain on Campus later than
18:00 hours without permission unless there is a specially
approved activity being held.
All students
must be on campus for all lecture hours, whether they
have lectures or not. Students wishing to leave the premises
must obtain permission form the Senior Lecturer responsible
for Student Affairs or, in her absence, from any other
Senior Lecturer. Students must then sign the movement
book provided for this purpose and inform the subject
tutor(s) of their intended absence from lecture(s). A
gate pass must be issued by Student Affairs before any
student will be allowed to pass through the gate between
the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and
3:00 p.m.
Absence
A student who
has to be absent form lectures must inform the Principal,
through the Senior Lecturer Student Affairs in writing
either before, during or immediately on his/her return
to college.
Application
for leave of absences due to illness exceeding three consecutive
days must be accompanied by a medical certificate.
A student who
is absent from duty at Teaching Practice must inform the
Principal, the Headmaster/Headmistress of his practicing
school and his tutor, by letter.
Expect in cases
of emergency, application for leave must be submitted
at least (3) days before the leave is due to commence.
On retuning
to College after leave of absence of any kind a student
must first report to the Principal, though the Senior
Lecturer responsible for Student Affairs, and obtain a
slip seeking permission to enter the class. No student
will be admitted back into a class without a permission
slip from Student Affairs, which must be seen and signed
by all those tutors whose class the student missed. The
student then returns the slip to Student Affairs as early
as possible after his return.
An In-Service
student who is absent from school as well as lectures,
on a day of classes, is expected to make application for
leave to the Headmaster of his/her school. He/she must
also notify the Head-of-Centre in writing.
In the case
of Pre-Service Students, failure to comply with the rules
governing attendance and leave of absence can result in
non-payment of or deduction from the student’s monthly
grant.
