Children's Art Competition 
A nation wide children's art competition was held as part of the 150th anniversary celebration. Two age groups were eligible to compete 8-12 and 13-17. The drawings were based on these themes: The work of Chinese in Guyana, Chinese culture in Guyana and Celebration of Chinese Heritage

Caitlin Vieira and Dwayne Rajcoomar received prizes for outstanding achievements. Special merit prizes were also awarded to several participants
Thirty one students from various schools in Georgetown participated in the competition which was launched on Dec 2, 2002 at Mae's Secondary School.
Judging was based on the size of the pictures, skill of the artist, general presentation and historical accuracy among other things.
The presentation of prizes was made at Chinese Association, Brickdam, Georgetown
