| A well-established 120 hour training programme
for volunteers in collaboration with the Institute of Distance and
Continuing Education, University of Guyana. CBR is the only organisation
in Guyana that has a loan scheme project specifically for persons
with disabilities. These loans facilitate the development or expansion
of micro-enterprises such as poultry farming, furniture manufacture,
sewing projects and vending.
Vocational skills training for persons with disabilities, and securing
their eventual placement in employment.
Public awareness programmes to educate members of the public and
key public sector officials on the needs and rights of persons with
disabilities.
Every year CBR receives students from the School of Medicine, University
of Guyana and other international institutions such as University
of Masstricht for the completion of courses related to community
health. In consultation with CBR, these students undertake research
studies on issues related to disability and rehabilitation.
