Toshao Lawrence Anselmo and Prime Minister Samuel Hinds look at National Geographic Mapping article

The Upper Mazaruni Mapping project gained coverage in the March 2000 edition of the prestigious National Geographic magazine. Seven villages in the Upper Mazaruni carried out a resource mapping project in the area during 1996. The work done by the local team of mappers continue to gain local and international recognition as evidenced by the National Geographic

coverage. These maps were highly complimented by the OAS, the World Bank and many others who stated that the maps were the best produced to date in Guyana. The Upper Mazaruni communities, with the assistance of the APA, produced their maps detailing ancestral lands, and is now using the information in a lawsuit against the government.
